What is a thigh lift?
Thigh lift is a cosmetic surgery procedure designed to tighten the skin of the thigh and reduce sagging in the inner or outer thigh. A thigh lift is a surgical procedure that serves to tighten the skin around the inner and outer thighs. Elliptical segments of fat and skin are removed from the thighs, and the remaining skin is reconstructed to have a tight and smooth looking finish.
Necessity of a Thigh Lift
The skin and the underlying tissues around the thigh can become flabby and begin to sag for a variety of reasons including aging, extreme weight loss, and heredity reasons. A lot of people who have such a condition may feel uncomfortable and wish to have tighter and smoother looking thighs.
How is the outer thigh treated?
Patient may be required to stay overnight in the hospital after having a thigh lift, and the bandage over the incision is often removed the day after the surgery. The outer thigh is treated most often by liposuction. When the skin of the outer thigh sags, it is usually in conjunction with the buttocks. In this case, the outer thigh lift is performed together with a buttocks lift. Post-op healthcare instructions restrict the patient from indulging in any kind of strenuous physical activity. While walking is encouraged during the second week, the restriction on participation in sports and other vigorous activities applies for two months.
